MADE MIX / CONNECTICUT

As a native of New England, I get pretty nostalgic when I think about that part of the country. I spent my childhood summers on the coast of Connecticut in the quaint little beach town of Niantic. It’s right down the road from Mystic, made famous by that one Julia Roberts movie about its namesake pizza shop that put both her, and the town on the map. Connecticut’s quintessential coastline is painted with yacht clubs, white sand, and rolling dunes covered with long green reeds that sway and whisper in the wind. It truly is beautiful. However, the landscape notwithstanding, the music scene in the Nutmeg State is a little lackluster. Sure, there are lots of musicians here, but the fact that the most notable of which are the likes of John Mayer, Michael Bolton, and Karen Carpenter should tell you something. Don’t get me wrong, they are all incredible talents in their own right, I just appreciate diversity and color, and this notoriously vanilla state doesn’t offer much of that. That being said, I did find some kids doing some pretty interesting things musically – most of who are not available on Spotify – but I still managed a mash-up of my favorites both old and new. All in good fun….  Enjoy!!
